About Me

Oh, hello! I’m Cathy Han.

I love talking to people. I love hearing their stories. I’m absolutely certain that everyone has something to teach me, whether they intend to or not, and I’m happy to learn.

That’s part of the reason I thought I wanted to be a lawyer (oh, yes). I wanted to dedicate my career to helping people who didn’t have the tools to help themselves. To that end, I worked for two public interest organizations and a solo practitioner during law school, and I graduated in 2019.

I felt my perspective change with every single client I worked for, and it was a constant, sometimes uncomfortable, learning experience. I loved the people aspect of law, but I discovered that I didn’t feel passionate about the legal field or the career ahead. I didn’t feel any excitement. And that sucked.

Then, I found UX Design.

It took all the best aspects of what I loved about legal work and combined them with the creativity and excitement of an innovative field. I would be able to work both with and on the behalf of clients and users to design solutions for their problems.

As a UX Designer, my job is to recognize the importance of perspective—every perspective—and use them to design effective solutions.

It felt freeing and it was fun.

I’m not exactly where I thought I’d be in life—far from it, actually. However, I approach everything, including my work, with an open mind and humility. It’s what allows me to be an effective asset to my client and to my team, and it lets me look at failure as an opportunity to grow.

Oh, and if you’re wondering about that picture up there: that’s my husband and I on the day we got engaged :)
